The 2020 St. Patrick’s Day 5k in support of Diabetes Canada will not take place this weekend.

The health and well-being and safety of our participants and volunteers is paramount and we thank everyone for their patience and understanding in our making the decision to not hold the 15th annual St. Patrick’s Day 5k this weekend.

Health officials in British Columbia are underlining the importance of “social distancing” as the province deals with new cases of COVID-19 and therefore, with close to 2,000 participants, we want to do the socially responsible thing by deferring the event.

We are deferring the event until November 1, 2020 to partner with one of Vancouver’s iconic races, The James Cunningham Seawall Race.

“The James Cunningham Seawall Race celebrates its 50th running on November 1st. This iconic race was founded by the Lions Gate Road Runners and was the very first held on the Stanley Park Seawall in 1971. We welcome participants from the St. Patrick’s Day 5K to come celebrate this special milestone.” ~ James Cunningham Seawall Race organizers

2020 St. Patrick’s Day 5k participants will receive a complimentary entry into this event. More details and information will be coming shortly.

We thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time. Please know that this is also a huge disappointment for the entire organizing team not to hold the event but we have to think of the best interest of our participants and volunteers.

Over the past 14 years, the St. Patrick’s Day 5k has donated over $100,000 to Diabetes Canada and all proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Diabetes Canada

We look forward to celebrating all that is great about Vancouver including Vancouver’s Seawall with our running community and the James Cunningham Seawall Race on November 1, 2020.
